Equality Act (2010)

The Equality Act 2010 prohibits discrimination against disabled people in the provision of goods, services, and public functions.

The Act applies to all websites and mobile applications that offer goods or services to the public, or that are essential for everyday life, such as banking, education, health, transport, etc.

The Act requires website and mobile app owners to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that disabled people can access their content and functionality. Failure to comply with the act can result in legal action and compensation claims.

Recommendation for compliance

It is recommended that all UK websites should comply with WCAG 2.2 AA.
