Fix website problems 10.8x faster

Inspector is the hub of Silktide, where you’ll find issues, be educated as to their impact and learn how to fix them. It’s a simple way to see all the problems on each of your web pages.

You can see every issue where it appears on the desktop, mobile and tablet versions of your website as well as within the actual code from the Inspector.

You can assign issues to team members, link your CMS to make immediate page changes and filter each issue by category.

You can also find your analytics data in the Inspector with heat maps and user behavior tracking for each page.

The Inspector is your website inside Silktide. Let’s take a look at how it works. The Inspector has been designed to make it quick and easy to find, understand and fix issues on a web page.

The Inspector is available for every page on your website. On the left are the list of issues that Silktide’s found on this page. You can see them split by category. Here it’s content, accessibility, marketing, user experience, et cetera. To expand any category, you just click More.

Let’s say I want to investigate this accessibility issue, which tells me I’ve got some links to my website that are not visually distinct from regular text.

All I need to do is click on it and I’m shown exactly where it appears on the page. Not only that, but there’s some useful information here as to why this is a problem and importantly, a clear explanation of how to fix it.

This particular example is telling me that the link in this sentence is not sufficiently distinguishable from the surrounding text. I can use a built in simulation by clicking the ‘Simulate color blindness’ button. Look what happens when I view the page now: all color has been removed. So let’s have a look at that sentence again and see if we can figure out where the link is.

This is one of the most powerful aspects of the Inspector. It helps you understand not just how to fix the problem, but its impact on the user.

Once I fixed the issues and retested the page, this issue disappears from this list and you can move on to the next one.

There’s so much more available here. These buttons at the top let you see a simulation of your website across a number of different device sizes desktop, mobile and tablet. You can also see issues highlighted directly in the code.

If you’re using Silktide Analytics, you can see your heatmaps on every page by clicking up here. Another great workflow addition is that I can highlight any part of my page that I feel needs changing and assign it to a user.

By clicking the Annotate tab at the top, I can ask someone to make this heading lowercase by adding a message and assigning it with a priority.

You can see that you can accomplish a lot without even leaving the Inspector. We designed it with speed and ease of use in mind.
