Prevent inconsistent content

Silktide’s custom policy module allows you to create custom checks that Silktide performs on your websites, allowing you to enforce consistency across them.

If there’s a check that Silktide doesn’t include by default, the chances are you can add one via Custom Policies

Many of our customers use these to help enforce their style guide, or to help their QA teams adopt their best practices.

Let me show you an example. Here is a demo account we’ve put together. This fictional company has recently moved address, from Canary Wharf in London to Liverpool.

So what we don’t want to happen when any new content is created is for references to the old address still being present on the website.

This policy appears under Custom checks and as you can see it has a title and handy description to let your content editors know what it’s for.

The rules are set up to look for the phrase “Canary Wharf” in any text on your website. If Silktide finds some, it lists them here.

As with all Silktide checks, you can just click on this magnifying glass and you can see where the issue appears for this instance.

Custom Policies can be made for any number of things, not just text content. You might want to check that images aren’t uploaded above a particular files size. Or you might want to check that some custom JavaScript is installed on every page of your website.
