These Terms of Use govern your installation and use of the Silktide Accessibility Checker browser extension and any related pages, documentation, and support materials made available for that extension (together, the “Extension”).
The Extension is provided by Silktide Limited (Silktide, we, us, or our).
If you or the organization you act for have a separate written agreement with Silktide governing your use of Silktide products or services, that agreement will apply to the extent it covers the Extension or the same subject matter, and these Terms will apply only to the extent they do not conflict with that agreement. If you do not have such an agreement, these Terms apply to your installation, access to, and use of the Extension.
By installing, accessing, or using the Extension, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Extension.
1. About the Extension
The Extension provides automated website accessibility checks, indicators, and related guidance to help users identify potential accessibility issues and areas for further review.
The Extension is intended as an informational and assistive tool only. It is not a substitute for professional advice, manual accessibility testing, user testing, legal review, or a full accessibility audit.
2. No guarantee of compliance or accuracy
The Extension uses automated methods, rules, heuristics, and third-party standards mappings to identify potential issues.
Because accessibility assessment involves context and human judgment:
- results may not identify every issue on a page or website;
- some results may be false positives;
- some results may require human review or manual confirmation;
- a score, pass result, warning, or absence of findings does not mean that a page, website, product, or service is fully accessible, legally compliant, or compliant with WCAG, the ADA, the EAA, or any other law, regulation, or standard.
You are solely responsible for any decision to rely on, act on, publish, or communicate the results produced by the Extension.
3. No legal, professional, or certification advice
The Extension and any information made available through it are provided for general informational purposes only.
Silktide does not provide legal advice, regulatory advice, certification, or any guarantee that use of the Extension will satisfy legal or compliance obligations.
No output generated by the Extension should be treated as legal advice, a formal audit, or a certification of accessibility compliance.
4. Licence
Subject to these Terms, Silktide grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Extension for your internal personal or business use.
You must not:
- copy, modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the Extension except as permitted by law;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract source code, except where that restriction is not permitted by law;
- use the Extension in a way that is unlawful, fraudulent, misleading, defamatory, or infringes the rights of any person;
- interfere with or disrupt the operation, security, or integrity of the Extension;
- remove or alter any copyright, trade mark, or proprietary notices.
5. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- ensuring that your use of the Extension complies with applicable laws and regulations;
- independently verifying results before acting on them;
- carrying out manual testing and expert review where appropriate;
- ensuring you have the right to scan, review, or analyse any website, page, or content you test with the Extension.
6. Third-party websites and content
The Extension may be used on websites, content, and services that are not owned or controlled by Silktide.
Silktide is not responsible for third-party websites, content, code, policies, availability, security, accessibility, or legal compliance.
7. Availability, changes, and withdrawal
We may update, modify, suspend, discontinue, or withdraw all or any part of the Extension at any time, with or without notice.
We may also change the checks, rules, methodologies, interfaces, features, or outputs of the Extension at any time.
We do not guarantee that the Extension will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or compatible with all browsers, devices, systems, or websites.
8. Beta, experimental, and evolving functionality
Some features, checks, or outputs may be experimental, evolving, or based on developing standards, interpretations, or best practices.
Silktide may change how any issue is classified, scored, prioritised, described, or presented at any time.
9. Intellectual property
All intellectual property rights in and to the Extension, including its software, design, text, graphics, branding, methodologies, and outputs structure, belong to Silktide or its licensors.
These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.
10. Feedback
If you submit suggestions, comments, bug reports, disputed results, screenshots, or other feedback about the Extension, you grant Silktide a worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, and incorporate that feedback for any purpose, without restriction or payment to you.

12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Extension is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
Silktide does not make any representations, warranties, or guarantees, express or implied, including any implied warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, satisfactory quality, non-infringement, or that the Extension will detect all accessibility issues or produce results suitable for your needs.
Nothing in these Terms excludes any rights you may have under law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Subject to the paragraph above, Silktide will not be liable for any:
- indirect or consequential loss;
- loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts, goodwill, reputation, or opportunity;
- loss or corruption of data;
- wasted management or office time;
- regulatory exposure, claims, penalties, or legal costs arising from your reliance on the Extension or its outputs;
- decisions made or actions taken based on the Extension’s results.
Subject to the paragraph above, Silktide’s total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Extension and these Terms will not exceed GBP £100.
14. Indemnity for business users
If you use the Extension in the course of a business, you will indemnify and hold harmless Silktide against losses, damages, costs, and expenses arising out of:
- your breach of these Terms;
- your unlawful use of the Extension;
- your use of the Extension in relation to websites or content you are not authorised to analyse;
- claims made by third parties arising from your publication, distribution, or reliance on the Extension’s outputs.
15. Consumer rights
If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects any non-excludable statutory rights you may have under applicable law.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable as against a consumer, that provision will be interpreted as narrowly as possible to remain enforceable, and if that is not possible it will be severed, with the rest of the Terms continuing in effect.
16. Termination
You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it.
We may suspend or terminate your right to use the Extension at any time if you breach these Terms, if we reasonably believe your use poses risk or harm, or if we discontinue the Extension.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.

Where required by law, we will take reasonable steps to notify users of material changes. Your continued use of the Extension after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of those updated Terms.
18. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them will be governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a business, the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction.
