tl;dr; We need a passionate accessibility expert to help us make awesome content.

Accessibility advocate

Do you love web accessibility? Are you an expert in WCAG (or well on your way to becoming one) with a flair for communications? Do you have experience in producing educational accessibility content across a variety of media?

This could be the role for you.

This is an awesome and unique opportunity for a passionate expert to promote web accessibility to a large audience.

Who are Silktide?

Silktide’s mission is to make the web better for everyone.

We make software to test and improve websites. Organisations around the world use Silktide to help deliver great web experiences that are accessible to all.

Our customers include FORTUNE 500 companies, universities, governments, and web design agencies.

We cover almost every aspect of the web, including accessibility, marketing, content, and privacy. A big part of our work is helping people understand these complex areas in a way that works for them.

What will you be doing?

We need someone to help us produce engaging content about web accessibility.

Accessibility is an incredibly important part of what we do at Silktide – our CEO is even writing a book on WCAG 2.1.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about accessibility, and who can inspire that in others.

You’ll work alongside our team of designers and animators to help us create written, audio, and video content for our website, on YouTube, and beyond.

Strong written and verbal communication is essential. Experience of any of the following would be highly welcome: blogs, webinars, educating, social media, podcasts.

From time to time we would also ask for your expertise with internal product decisions, customer consultations, and events.

This is a truly great opportunity for a passionate expert to make a real difference in the world of web accessibility. We’ll provide the support and freedom for you to create excellent content, inside a company that really cares about it.

  • Strong knowledge of web accessibility, including WCAG
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Aptitude for hosting webinars/podcasts/videos

What we’re like

We heavily promote an open culture. Every member of our team keeps a Slack journal, to log their thoughts, work, and ideas. Everyone can read these. Want to know exactly what your CEO is working on? Done.

Freedom is key to Silktide. We’ll give you the freedom to choose your work, your tech, your working hours, and of course, your location! We don’t clock in and out, in fact, we don’t check your hours. As long as your work is done, the rest is up to you.

We’re growing fast and need smart, ambitious, and trustworthy people to join our team.

Where will you work?

It’s up to you. We are a remote-first company. This was a deliberate choice before Covid-19 made it cool – we value work-life balance and hate sitting in traffic.

We’re currently looking for a United Kingdom resident for this remote-based role.

What you will get in return?

  • Flexibility to work wherever you like, whenever you like.
  • 35-45k DOE
  • Choice of your own laptop, operating system, and peripherals including large monitor
  • Home office budget
  • 2 weeks / year dedicated to skills development (“Silktime”)
  • 20 days paid holiday + public holidays (increases with each year at Silktide)
  • Training budget

Interested? Apply today! We’ll need a CV and a covering letter containing details of previous relevant experience.
