Goal: Find the problems. All of them.
Automated Tools (fast, broad checks):
- Use tools like Silktide, axe, Lighthouse, or your platform’s built-in checker
- Check documents with Acrobat’s Accessibility Checker or MS Office’s accessibility tools
- LMS systems may have built-in reports – check with your vendor
Human Testing (the stuff automation misses):
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Screen reader basics (e.g., NVDA or VoiceOver)
- Color contrast and visual clarity
- Real-device testing for mobile apps
Keep Track:
- Store your findings somewhere central (spreadsheet, Trello, Jira – whatever you use)
Include screenshots, videos, severity, and who’s responsible
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about knowing what you’ve got so you can make a plan.
